Partnerships Serving Our Communities

Belonging is a fundamental need for us all, to be valued and appreciated in our communities. Having lived in Hong Kong for over 14 years, I witness this vibrant sense of community daily, observing people of all ages engaged in shared activities. Yet, beneath this surface lies unaddressed challenges we often overlook.

Recently, I participated in a Kindness Walk organised by Impact Hong Kong, shedding light on homelessness and the struggles of low-income families. This experience wasn’t about showcasing personal generosity but embracing empathy, kindness, and compassion, learning without judgment.

Walking through commercial streets, we distributed essentials quietly, distinguishing between those in need and those going about their lives. Homelessness, as our hosts emphasized, is complex. They shared a poignant insight: with a support network, most of us wouldn’t face homelessness in times of crisis.

Impact Hong Kong’s emphasis on building relationships and trust is transformative. Through volunteerism and donor generosity, they pave sustainable paths for the marginalized. This experience resonated with me, revealing a broader truth: our everyday communities mirror larger societal challenges.

In our personal and professional spheres, we encounter a tapestry of individuals, each with unique stories and struggles. Every interaction, no matter how small, holds the potential to foster belonging and trust. By acknowledging and engaging with those around us, we can make a lasting impact, ensuring everyone feels valued and embraced.

At Holono-Me, our commitment to nurturing partnerships encapsulates our Principles of Partnerships. We understand the significance of cultivating relationships grounded in mutual respect, shared ownership, and reciprocity. While we may not solve homelessness, we are dedicated to collaborating with organizations that share our vision of fostering inclusivity, democracy, and a sense of belonging within the workplace.
